Overall Impressions

Highlights were the quality of the staff, the accommodation, the package in terms of the fact that we had good variety of places to go and the connections were fun, with a combination of small planes and overland. The winning factor was the Delta itself which is truly an incredible place. Untouched, no litter, no people. My personal highlight was seeing 2 leopard, one who obligingly feasted on a buffalo and let us spend time simply admiring it from close range. Despite being fortunate enough to have had quite a few safari experiences, I haven't seen leopard for 18 years, since my trip to the Serengeti, and this was a far more amazing experience.

Countries Visited

Botswana 5

Wonderful. People so friendly and the country beautiful. A truly unique experience.

Zambia 4

The falls are spectacular, however I think our experience was coloured by our accommodation.

Accommodation Visited

Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp 5

Just amazing! The staff were wonderful. The tents and accommodation truly 'Out of Africa'. Cux, our ranger, and Joseph the tracker was very good too. We loved BK our Bulter, who could not have been more attentative, but not too intrusive. Dinner in the bush was very special.

Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge 5

This really is 5 star in the bush! We ate far too well! Beautiful accommodation. Again the staff were fantastic - all the butlers excellent, and really good with the children who spent ages swapping riddles with them. Thabo and Bro wee really excellent. Lunch in the bush after one of the most amazing game drives (leopard and, separately, 4 lion cubs posing on a rock for us)was quite unforgettable.

Avani Victoria Falls Resort 2

This is a very tired 3 star. We should possibly have stayed at the Royal Livingston or possibly the Victoria Falls Hotel. Having had such a wonderful time in the Delta the Zambezi Sun was a big let down.

Staff Review 5

Nikki was very helpful and obligingly put up with lots of emails with questions ranging from what to pack to what to do when we got there. The only small tip would be to highlight the fact that one can have laundry done in the Delta as part of the package. Knowing this would have helped enormously in terms of not having to take so much luggage. It really is possible to travels very light but as we weren't clear on that we took sufficient clothing for 7 days.
