Overall Impressions

It was great to pack in so much to two weeks - Cape Town, safari and Mauritius. The safari was amazing. We got to see the 'Big 5' on many of our game drives at the Thornybush Reserve and the ranger at our accommodation was so willing to stay later on drives when we had a good spot. Our accommodation was luxurious and we enjoyed the many honeymoon extras!

Countries Visited

Mauritius 5

We felt six days was long enough in Mauritius as we are not really keen on spending days just sunbathing. There wasn't much sun at this time of year though. We hired a car and got to stroke lions, swim with dolphins and see Mauritius outside of the resorts. It was also great to feel so pampered at the hotel.

South Africa 5

There was a lot to do in Cape Town. We really enjoyed the views from Table Mountain and our tour of Robben Island. Unfortunatley due to bad weather we were unable to do the shark dive we've always wanted to do! The food was fantastic and the people were so friendly during our time here. The entire safari was a highlight!

United Arab Emirates 5

We were only here for a stop over.

Accommodation Visited

Dubai International Hotel 5

This was an extremely convenient hotel and made the transfer to our next flight very smooth as we were met by a staff member who escorted us through security so we avoided queues. It was great to get a shower in between long-haul flights. There was also a lovely cake left for us in the room upon arrival to celebrate or honeymoon.

Cape Royale 4

This hotel was extremely luxurious and the staff could not have been more friendly. The breakfast was great! We were able to choose what we wanted from the menu which meant we could have steak and lobster. The hotel was also close to the waterfront and many great restaurants were only a short taxi drive away. Our only problem with this hotel was that the bedrooms had a window that faced out into the corridor which meant the rooms were very noisy and you could hear everything said by people walking past. Also, the beds were not as comfortable as I would expect for a five star hotel.

Monwana Game Lodge 5

We absolutely lovely Monwana. From the drum roll arrival to the champagne in the room we really were spoilt on our honeymoon. The staff were very friendly and there was a real intimate feel as one night there was only us and another couple staying. The food was great and our room had superb views of the watering hole so we could great pictures when an elephant came to visit!

Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort 5

We were spoilt at this hotel and again experienced a drum roll arrival and champagne in the room. There were also lots of lovely touches such as the couples' honeymoon dinner which had personally printed out menus. We also enjoyed the many activities on offer such as spinning classes and group cycles, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The only down side was that a lot of work was happening when we were there which involved more than soft furnishings (as we had been pre-warned). They seemed to be fixing the roof on one occasion which involved a lot of banging and we were woken by a drill in the room beside us one morning.

Staff Review 5

We had a very smooth booking process with Mahlatini. Nikki quickly got a sense of what we were after and the places we wanted to visit and emailed us a proposed itinerary very quickly. She was also keen to respond to our suggested changes. Mahlatini took the stress out of our honeymoon when we were there as everything was well organised from our transfers and pick-ups to our honeymoon extras. Nikki was also helpful checking us in on our flight when we had a panic we would be late!
