- South Africa
- Holiday Type:
Its hard to pick specific highlights as the whole holiday was wonderful, but Quartermains camp safari was definitely one of the highlights along with driving to cape point and the cape of good hope. The tour of Robben Island was also very interesting.
South Africa is and will always be a beautiful country. As mentioned before its hard to pick any one thing, the scenery, wildlife, plant life and general way of life is all ideal for a holiday destination. The weather was great and if you are coming from the Euro or Pound then its is very affordable and can enjoy top quality dinning and excursions for a very reasonable price. We would go back in a heart beat. In regards to any safety concerns, then I would happily report that not once did we even feel unsafe let alone concerned about anything. Everybody we encountered were very friendly and helpful, which can not be said for a lot of other countries.
Camps Bay resort was very nice and well deserved of its 3 star status, we had two different rooms on our two trips, and although quite different is size (the one was much larger),they were both of a good standard and came with all the amenities required for self-catering. The location was ideal and very convenient and would certainly recommend the property to anyone looking for a similar self-catering affordable accommodation. We were very happy with our choice not to stay in cape town directly. One possible slight complaint, although the room was serviced daily, and for the most part there were no issues, they forgot to replace our towels (taken the previous day and not replaced, nor replaced the following day), with having taking the previous ones away and also to replace the toilet paper, with us be required to go to reception to request more.
Amakhala Quatermain's 1920 Safari Camp 5
Quartermain's Camp was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the camp. The tents were rustically beautiful with the comfort of an on-suit bathroom including shower. They were service twice a day whilst on game drive with blankets and a hot water bottle being placed on/in the bed in the evening which was a welcome surprise, especially on the first night as it was cold. The food was delicious on all 3 evenings and the guides adn the camp staff were excellent in both knowledge and company. We would happily recommend the camp to anyone looking for a wonderful experience and a set back to nature. It must be said that there is no electricity and so if one is looking for creature comforts and WIFI then obviously I would not recommend the camp, but if you are looking for a really authentic experience with the peace and quiet of nothing but nature then this is definatly the place to visit.
Staff Review 5
We have relative little experience with booking through a tour operator due to general preconceptions, however we found Claire and the service offered by Mahlatini to be excellent. The knowledge of Claire really helps to find exactly what we were looking for and we feel that everything we wanted was listened to and provided rather than having anything push on us.
