Nobody likes to hear about someone else's vacation, so I normally don't brag about mine with friends and family. This vacation is the exception, because it was an adventure, unlike what most people, including me, typically try. And people are really interested for the same reason. Trip of a lifetime. Well done, Nikki, and Mahlatini.
Huge potential, both from a tourist and general perspective. Reminds me of what the U.S. might have been like a long time ago. Hope they have the wisdom to preserve their beautiful treasures, as they grow their economy.
This is a really special place. Luxury accommodation with five star cuisine in the African bush, surrounded by the world's most exotic wildlife. But more than that, the staff is their strong suit. They are attentive in such an old world way. When you leave and they all line up to wish you good bye, and stay to wave as your cab pulls away, well, it's hard not to get a little choked up, even if you know they do it for everyone. Our guide, Eric, was really special if you can make sure that gets communicated.
Auberge Burgundy Guest House 3
Very cute and located in a stunning setting, but it needs to invest in some modern amenities--like hot water that doesn't run out in the AM after one person showers.
Beautiful hotel. Here again, the staff is their strength. The concierge, Emmy, was an incredible help and a real pleasure to be with.
Staff Review 5
She is a real, caring pro and I feel like I've come to know her personally, even though we only spoke twice and largely communicated by e-mail. It's as if she knew how important this trip was to me and my family, and she made it her priority, even though she was thousands of miles away, and obviously juggling other matters. A complicated itinerary was perfectly prepared by her, right down to the aisle seats I wanted. We had some contact with other Mahlatini staff and they showed the same attitude as Nikki. Great teamwork.
