Overall Impressions

Excellent trip, great mix of locations visited and activities to do.

Countries Visited

South Africa

It is a magnificent country, we were blown away by its beauty and by how friendly the locals were to us. Whilst we were cautious, we experience no crime and we were very plesently surprised by our warm welcome from all of the people that we were in contact with.

Accommodation Visited

The Clarendon Fresnaye

Excellent! Emmy was fantastic at front of house. She was very welcoming and helped us to plan our 3 days in Cape Town - there was nothing that she couldn't do for us! Our room was lovely and the food at breakfast was excellent.I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Rusthuiz Guest House

Beautiful guest house! We were greeted with champagne and Lynette organised a number of trips for us to do a wine tour and also a trip to a local township. There was definitely a more relaxed feel in Stellenbosch than in Cape Town. My only negative comment was that when we went down for breakfast early (but within the breakfast times) and the man on the reception was very flustered that we had come early and we were waiting a long time for service and then to get our food. Aside from this, the guesthouse was lovely!

Auberge Burgundy Guest House

We had a lovely stay in the Auberge guest house and the food at the Burgundy restaurant was excellent - we ended up eating there 4 times in 24 hours! The lady who ran the house was very helpful in trying to book us on to various whale and shark boat trips. We were also treated to a lovely bottle of pink champagne which was very kind.

Protea Hotel Knysna Quays

The hotel was lovely and the breakfast was delicious. I didn't like this hotel as much as The Clarendon Fresnaye as it was bigger and less intimate. The location was very central but we didn't have a lot to do in Knysna so we were a little bored at times and in hindsight we wished that we had spent two nights in Hermanus and just one in Knysna. No complaints about the hotel though.

Amakhala Woodbury Lodge

Our stay at the Woodbury Lodge was absolutely excellent! from the moment that we arrived we were treated like royalty. The food was fantastic and very plentiful and the staff was incredibly friendly and accomodating. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Staff Review

Nikki has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. As we were booking our honeymoon we didn't put a whole lot of time into planning the itinerary for our trip as we were busy planning the wedding. We essentially left it all in Nikki's hands, having had a recommendation from Neal's parents who had previously booked with Nikki. We were blown away by the standard of accomodation which she chose for us. Nikki also managed to tailor the trip to meet our tight budget requirements which was a huge relief. Even while on holiday she was on email answering a few queries which arose. I genuinely couldn't recommend our dealings with Nikki enough, she's incredibly helpful and very professional.
