Overall Impressions

Great voyage of discovery, learning and adventure

Countries Visited

Lovely people, fascinating geography, quite saddened to feel that their future might be imperiled by over-fishing, vast tree destruction, poor government and insufficient investment in industry and tourism

Accommodation Visited

Huntingdon House

Exceeded our greatest expectations! Splendid accommodations, superb service and attention to detail

Zomba Forest Lodge

Wonderful greeting by the team at ZFL, very interesting conversation and discussions, sweet atmosphere, amazing food and much appreciated efforts on solar. We loved it.

Mvuu Camp

Close to perfection in terms of the villas, the safari team and the general atmosphere but serious improvements are easily possible (and needed) on the food and beverage sides.

I challenge anyone to find fault with the superb service and the stunning rooms at this 5-star lodge. From teaching bao to the kids, to water activities, to a guided tour of the village, to offering lovely food, we can only praise the team at Pumulani. We didn't even really mind the absence of internet. Simply magnificent.

Staff Review

Claire was extremely helpful in proposing a varied and interesting itinerary and with providing travel options. It seemed as if she might have been stretched a bit thin at times and so there were a few miscues in relation to actual trip details, and there was a fair bit of mayhem with the airlines at the actual time of travel, which could have been avoided. Generally I think Mahlatini have a greater role to play in promoting a better understanding of the challenges facing Malawi and as first-time travellers to the south of Africa, we personally could have used a tad more coaching as to expectations and things we could have done to help the people in a more concrete manner; we have followed up ourselves upon our return. Thank you very much all the same.
