Generally, temperatures in Rwanda drop 6°C/ 43°F every 1,000m you climb, with day time temperatures in Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe Forest National Park being around 16°C/ 61°F - 21°C/ 70°F. These higher altitude areas are also no stranger to rain, which keeps vegetation lush year round.

  • Gorilla trekking: December, February and June to October
  • Other wildlife: June to September
  • Chimpanzee trekking: October to February
  • Bird watching: All year, however the drier months of June to September make sightings easier
