Seychellois-style bungalows, scattered through the gardens, offer some 80 rooms; some bungalows are closer to the beach with sea views. All have a French Creole design with much use of local wood, high ceilings, wooden shutters and cool ceramic tiles. Although rooms are quite small, double sliding doors open onto a private deck providing extra space; all include king or queen beds. Deluxe rooms are also able to accommodate two children under 12 years, who stay free of charge. The hotel is great as part of a Seychelles island-hopping holiday.

The St Pierre Beach Restaurant, with its traditional sand floor, provides an idyllic setting for lunch and dinner with the ocean waves gently lapping against it. Creole-inspired flavours as well as Mediterranean and International cuisine, including themed evenings, ensure memorable dining options. If you've been out for a morning excursion and are late back, there's even a special 'late lunch' menu. Breakfast is taken in the main open-fronted dining room, beside the main pool. Afternoon tea and cake is served here daily too.

A key part of a stay at Paradise Sun is enjoying the 2km long white sand beach. The Beach Clubhouse has many activities including stand-up paddle boards and kayaks, as well as a weekly kids entertainment programme. As the beach is gently shelving, it's offers great snorkelling for beginners, while the tiny island of Chauvre Souris, 300metres from the beach, provides clear water and many more fish! A Dive Centre is next door to the hotel. Hotel staff look after the beach immediately in front of the hotel and provide refreshments from the bar as you relax on your sunbed.

The hotel has a small spa with a range of treatments by Balinese trained therapists, using natural, organic ingredients from the forests and bays of Seychelles. The 5-acre tropical gardens are lovingly tended and include Praslin's only nutmeg tree, the smells of Cinnamon, Lemon Grass and Tamarind, as well as the vibrant colours of Frangipani and Hibiscus. Guided nature walks can be organised, while the hotel also offers a complimentary sunset cruise each Wednesday. The nearby Cote d'Or village, with its grocery store and a few gift shops, is reached by a 10-minute walk along the beach when the tide is out, or along a path from the hotel.

Whatever time of year you choose to stay at Paradise Sun, it is superbly located for excursions to see the many sights of Praslin Island, including the Coco de Mer nut at the Vallee de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and stunning Anse Lazio, one of Seychelles' most beautiful beaches. Further afield, take a day-trip to the quiet island neighbour of La Digue, or visit Curieuse Island to see giant tortoises in the wild.
