Barely rising a few metres above sea level, the 375 acre Denis Private Island lies 55 miles north of the main island of Mahé and is reached by a 30-minute flight.
Privately owned by the Mason family, there are just 25 individual cottages scattered amongst the palms just behind the beach. The island offers a truly relaxed atmosphere, but with excellent standards of service and cuisine - making a Seychelles holiday here a truly memorable experience.
Denis Island is renowned for its excellent diving. Being located on the edge of the Seychelles Bank which plunges 2000 metres into the Indian Ocean, there are numerous dive sites and excellent opportunities for spotting turtles, sting rays, manta arrays and sailfish to name but a few. A small PADI dive centre provides dive excursions as well as courses for beginners and advanced divers.
An ongoing rehabilitation programme is restoring the interior of Denis Island to its natural habitat, thereby aiding the survival of many endemic bird species. The Magpie Robin is one such species, as are the Seychelles fody and the Paradise Flycatcher. Guests are free to explore the island at leisure via many of the paths, although a guided tour with the island's Environmental Manager is by far the best way to understand fully all about this magical island paradise!
