Situated in the National Marine Park and just to the north of the main island of Mahé, Sainte Anne Island has a dominating position on this part of the coast. Much of the island remains in its natural state, undeveloped and covered with tropical foliage. The only resort on this private island is the 4-star deluxe Sainte Anne Resort, set within lovely tropical gardens and beside 3 beaches (two of which are protected from the prevailing wind all year round) with views back towards Mahé; it offers a choice of villa-style accommodation, some with private pool. The island is reached by boat from Mahé (10 minutes).
The island is a sanctuary for fauna and flora and the hotel offers several treks around the island to discover isolated beaches as well as endemic species. Some of the beaches on Sainte Anne are traditional nesting ground for turtles, while the waters around Sainte Anne offer superb snorkelling. Diving and fishing can also be arranged.
