With over 100 years of history, Acorn House is characterised by a colonial charm and a stunning situation on the slopes of ancient Table Mountain. The hotel was originally built in 1904 and retains much of its old world air now juxtaposed by modern touches, such as WiFi and an inviting pool. The reason to stay here, however, is very much down to its location. The hotel holds phenomenal views of Cape Town's most famous mountain; guests don't even have to look up – the presence of Table Mountain refuses to be ignored, standing proud as a dramatic backdrop to the hotel's white walls and terracotta tiling.
There are 9 rooms at the house, all of which are well furnished and comfortable, with WiFi, televisions, international power adaptors and bathrooms. The rooms are light and airy and are a great base from which to explore South Africa's Mother City.
Acorn House is found in the suburb of Oranjezicht and is less than a 10 minute drive away from Cape Town's city centre. Wander around the Company Gardens and take in the beauty of their diverse flora or get the best view in the house with a trip by cable car to the top of Table Mountain.
A 20 minute drive from Cape Town International Airport.
Cable car trips to the top of Table Mountain, visiting Robben Island (former prison of Nelson Mandela), visits to the penguins at Boulders Beach and to Camps Bay Beach and Clifton Beach along with shopping at the V&A Waterfront.
