Hippo Hollow Country Estate is nestled amongst lush indigenous gardens on the banks of the Sabi River in Hazyview, only ten minutes from the world famous Kruger National Park. The rooms either overlook the picturesque gardens with its two swimming pools or the mighty Sabi River.

Dine in the a la carte restaurant on a variety of mouth-watering dishes and enjoy a selection of South African wines from the cellar, whilst watching the grazing of the Hippopotamus on the lawn.

Hippo Hollow Country Estate offers 19 garden chalets, 18 river chalets and 54 hotel rooms. Within only half an hour drive you can witness the spectacular Panorama Route which includes Pilgrims Rest, Graskop, Bourkesluck Potholes, God's Window, and the Blyde River Canyon as well as the many fantastic waterfalls of the surrounding area.

This was the one accommodation we felt was underwhelming. We understand that Hippo Hollow was just a convenient overnight stop on the way from Zambia to Thornybush, but we would not recommend it to friends. There were bugs throughout our room and on/in the bed without mosquito netting available. Service was not on the same level as the other places we stayed and we thought the food…

Saw the hippos! Really close to Elephant Whispers sanctuary and we were able to "meet" and ride elephants. Unique accommodations that never felt crowded. Good menu at restaurant but slow service.
