Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge offers traditional accommodation, warm African hospitality and an excellent situation in the vast Balule Nature Reserve. Part of the Greater Kruger Park, Balule affords guests high levels of game viewing with the chance to see some of Africa's most famous inhabitants. The intimate owner run lodge is a great base from which to explore the bushveld on thrilling game drives and walking safaris. During the cool evenings sit around the campfire with a glass of wine and listen to the heart stopping stories of the lodge guides, some of them are very gripping and it's a real highlight of a stay here.
The lodge accommodation is split between two family lodges and six rondawels. Rondawels are distinctive African round huts, only those found at the lodge hold comfortable interiors that pervade authentic African charm. Thatched roofs and traditional decoration are complemented by ceiling fans to stay cool, a safe for important documents, insect proof windows, and outdoor showers. The two family lodges feature interleading rooms and are capable of accommodating up to five people each.
The main lodge is shaded under ancient trees and surrounded by carefully manicured lawns. Look out onto the nearby waterhole and enjoy casual game viewing or relax in the comfortable lounge. Sample tasty cuisine in the dining room next to a roaring fire and sip tasty cocktails at the bar.

Our family of 5 truly enjoyed our Family Lodge for our 4 night stay at Mohlabetsi and we really appreciated the air conditioned comfort on the hot days. The staff were all friendly and the food was very good, especially the salads and omelettes. There is some magical spice that they put in the omelettes that makes them taste fantastic. We had one of the most experienced guides, Hamilton, and saw all of the big 5 plus many other animals (listed below). We saw many of them right from the camp. On a clear night, recommend doing a bit of star gazing. You can see many more stars than normal if you are from an urban area. Check out the well stocked gift shop as well. One of my daughters commented that the pool could have been cleaner (bugs), and the other daughter, who is vegan, had limited menu options. Animals seen on game drives or from the camp: Giraffe Zebra Black rhino White rhino Cheetah Leopard Lion Elephant Buffalo Impala Hyena Crocodile Hippo Gnu/wildebeest Owl Rabbit Squirrel Tortoise Water Buck Steenbok Kudu Monkey Baboon Mongoose Wild dog BoarRead full trip review
