Ngala Safari Lodge

Ngala Safari Lodge is situated in &Beyond Ngala Private Game Reserve, which shares an unfenced boundary with the world-renowned Kruger National Park. A spectacular diversity of wildlife moves through this immense wilderness, including breeding herds of elephant, leopard, spotted hyena, giraffe, large buffalo herds and white rhino.

Ngala Safari Lodge boasts 20 classic thatched cottages and the spacious Family Suite. Each ensuite cottage, with private veranda, exudes a romantic colonial ambiance with nostalgic safari memorabilia throughout. The lodge also provides a swimming pool, safari shop, waterhole, outdoor dining area and offers a unique children's programme.

Getting There

Getting to Ngala would involve either a light aircraft flight from Johannesburg Airport directly to Ngala Airstrip or a scheduled SAA flight from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit Airport followed by a one-hour road transfer. It is a six-hour drive from Johannesburg on excellent roads in a two-wheel drive vehicle.


Activities on offer include early morning and late afternoon game drives that continue after nightfall, interpretive bush walks and walking safaris with open air sleep-out option.

We were welcomed very warmly by the Ngala team. Food was delicious, accommodation was very nice but the rooms were close together as in a resort. Silence our butler was exceptional. He was always around. Our Guide Brad and Tracker Solly were excellent and they were as excited as we were in our search for the cats and other animals.
