Rovos Rail was an incredible experience. It is nothing like we have experienced before, we went from Pretoria to Cape Town the service and the staff were expceptional. The only disappointment was that we broke down, this was out of the control of Rovos Rail but it meant that we didn't see as much as anticiapted as we travelled through the night to catch up time. We would definately go on the train again!

Absolutely fantastic; magnificent; oustanding. There are no enough superaltives to describe this experience with Rovos Rail. Every detail was thought of and when all added together made for a truly memorable experience. For those that love trains and train travel, there is surely non better than Rovos Rail.

Rohan Vos appreciates loyalty so much so we were upgraded to the Royal Suite which is somewhat larger than the deluxe with the added advantage of a bath as well as a shower.Everthing 6star from trips off the train to food on board

The train manager Gavin was a knowledgeable, friendly and capable individual who took difficulties in his stride. The food was 100% first class - better than anything experienced elsewhere. The ride was very bumpy through Zimbabwe but this was hardly the fault of Rovos Rail. Organising a trip to a cattle ranch in Botswana was a welcome break from the train and we learned a lot. I personally rate Rovos Rail better than any other train in the world (including the Blue Train). I would recommend this to anybody.

What more can I add other than WOW! Maybe next time an upgrade in accommodation would have been a preferred option to provide a little more room on a long journey but a truly wonderful experience.

Rovos service was first class. Friendly helpful staff, fantastic food and far too much good wine! We could not fault the service Rovos provides and cannot think of anything they need to do to improve the service they provide or the condition of the carriages. However the engines are not great and alas I don't think come under thier responsibilty. For this reason only this must be taken into consideration when booking flights or arrangements after leaving the train. The engine broke down on day one but that wasn't a problem as we seem to get back on time. Day two it broke down in the morning for four hours they got it sorted so we thougth but then it broke down again. Rovos had taken details of all our contections that morning so were aware who had flights to catch that evening and when. The engine problem was as we all hoped solved but Rovos manager decided that it would be best to transfer us to a mini bus when we got to Krugersburg station to take us all to Jo/burg airport. Unfortuneately it broke down before we got there but they got the mini bus to come and collect us in the middle of nowhere! There was a bus for those who were going on to a game reserve and the other for the those who had flights to Cape Town and four of us to the UK. By the time the driver got to us time was very short, he did have to drive very fast but safely!! Best not to ask how fast. In the end I think the people on 7.30 flight for Cape Town were too late as we arived at 7.00 another couple had a flight at 8.00 so I think they might have be OK. We and the other couple who were flying to the UK were in time to check in. I would still definitely recommend a trip on Rovos rail BUT make sure to stay over night in Pretoria so you aren't under pressure. As Rovos say they do their best BUT can't guarantee the engines and the worst delay has been 24 hours late. It was a shame as we missed the seeing the Capital station and the steam engine but it was a drive to remember!
