Found just outside of Stellenbosch, Spier Hotel is situated right at the heart of the Cape Winelands. A refreshing country ambience flows throughout the property; with lush green lawns, the gentle bubble of the Eerste River and quaint village-style buildings, the hotel is ideal for relaxation.
The hotel houses 155 rooms, with a choice of standard rooms, garden terrace rooms, river facing rooms, and 5 different suites. Connecting the rooms to the restaurant, reception area, lounge and bar are beautiful gardens and walkways. The rooms are spaced out around six private courtyards, each of which possesses its own swimming pool. Each room has WiFi and air conditioning.
The hotel restaurant possesses fine views of the Helderberg and Simonsberg mountains and sources much of its produce from local farmers. The hotel also offers guests the chance to relax at Camelot, a boutique spa, providing quality therapy based on natural plant technologies. The hotel's surrounding area is filled with attractions, including the Moyo Restaurant. This 1,500-seater restaurant provides a wide variety of African delights in a buffet style. Take to the branches with a treetop table or dine in your very own tent. For guests wishing to see the estate's beautiful vineyards in style, Segway devices are on hand for a gentle and relaxed tour of the Protea Gardens, and Spier wine farm, finishing the trip with some wine tasting.
Around 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport.
Wine tasting tours, spa, picnics, Segway tours of the surrounding vineyards, visits to the Bird of Prey rehabilitation centre, Moyo Restaurant, Eight to Go Deli and Eight Restaurant, craft market and nature walks.
Read what our previous clients thought of Spier Hotel
While I understand the Spier estate is open to the public you do not get the same feeling of exclusivity as you do from the other properties. The food was only reasonable we felt in Spier and not to the standard that we felt they promoted.
While they have bikes available, the children's bikes were unroadworthy yet still supplied (totally broken brakes). I noticed before we used and managed accordingly but…
Basic accommodation, well located for the area, but impersonal because of its size. The staff booked the wrong restaurant at Delaire for us, and the concierge couldn't correct it. We had to change it ourselves.
