Beautiful place. Excellent facilities. Avoid the vindaloo on the curry buffet unless you are used to VERY spicy foods!

Absolutely stunning especially with room upgrade, found a little formal and over the top attention for us. Service in some bars a bit lacking surprisingly.

Our room was very small and cramped. Did not find the staff accommodating on trying to get in-hotel reservations for dinner or tea. Great location.

Very different and unique experience, loved exploring around the hotel with old style colonial libraries etc.

This is a difficult one. If you like large chain hotels then you probably couldn't have faulted the facilities or the service. Unfortunately this just wasn't for us. Having the staff dressed as they were (in various colonial style costumes) seemed quite incongruous and cheesy. The room was on the small side once you had the two of us and our luggage in there. You couldn't watch the TV as it was obscured by the bed post. The food was good and the view from out balcony was lovely. I think next time we would look for a smaller, more personal hotel in Durban, if such a thing exists. Perhaps we had been spoilt by having stayed in the smaller more personal lodges.
