The malaria-free Shamwari Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape is home to the Big 5 - elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard - as well as a host of other wildlife, which you will see on thrilling game drives. Luxury safari accommodation is offered in 7 individual 5-star lodges plus the unique Explorer Camp. Explorer Camp offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience of a guided walking safari overnighting in simplistic yet comfortably equipped tents with all the modern amenities.

This walking safari experience allows you to get up close and personal with nature. The tents are placed in close proximity without encroaching on the other tents’ privacy. The camp is located on a plateau set among the only basalt and granite extrusions on the Shamwari Reserve – a truly magical setting. The 3 tents have an en suite bathroom with a shower and LED light for nighttime use. Facilities at the camp include a viewing deck, plunge pool and dining and lounge tent. Culinary feasts are presented around the campfire, and you will be served tea and coffee in the mornings in front of your tents.
