Found in Kwazulu-Natal on the banks of the Mkuze River, Amakhosi Private Game Reserve offers plenty of character and countless species of wildlife to enjoy. Experience a variety of charming landscapes from plunging valley bushland and thick grassland to distinctive umbrella thorn trees and river wetlands. Each offers a unique habitat in which a superb biodiversity can be found.
Amakhosi is a Big 5 reserve, providing guests the opportunity to get up close to some of Africa's most celebrated wildlife, with buffalo, lion, elephant, leopard and rhino resident to the reserve. Amakhosi also boasts wildebeest, hippo, crocodile and cheetah sightings along with a colourful plethora of birdlife which includes raptors like Whalberg's eagle and the Crowned eagle.
Activities are exciting, with a few unique offerings. Game drives are a good start for viewing game but for a bigger thrill walking safaris are the answer; traverse the wilderness on foot to get closer to game on a whole new level and in-touch with Africa. There's also the chance to visit a local village to experience cultural displays and embark on an unusual nocturnal frog safari from November to March.
