Home to the Big 5, Balule Private Game Reserve shares an un-fenced border with the Kruger National Park allowing wildlife to pass freely between the two. Expect savannah grassland and wooded areas with the Drakensberg Mountains rising proudly as a backdrop. The perennial Olifants River strikes a steady course through the centre of the park and is a great attraction for wildlife.
Covering an impressive 40,000 hectares, the reserve lies on the Kruger's western periphery and is known for the spectacular big game viewing it offers, with strong buffalo and elephant sightings in particular. A variety of exciting activities are the window into the world of Balule's wildlife. Embark in open safari vehicles and take-in not only the Big 5 but zebra, giraffe and hyena as well. There's also the chance to experience the surrounds in unique ways: with night drives and bush walks on offer.
On a Balule Private Nature Reserve safari there are around 250 species of bird to discover, with the diverse habitats found in the reserve providing the perfect environment for such biodiversity to occur. Keep your eyes peeled for saddle billed stork, Kori Bustard and the elusive Pels Fishing Owl.
