Expect one unparalleled view after another from South Africa's magnificent Panorama Route. Found in Mpumalanga province, this area of pure adventure is heaving with waterfalls, sweeping valleys, sheer cliffs and some of South Africa's most remarkable scenery.
The yawning Blyde River Canyon is perhaps the route's most famous attraction. The third largest canyon on earth, this remarkable geological feature boasts matchless vistas from such view points as God's Window and an overabundance of activities to enjoy. Drive 800m above the canyon below along cliff top paths, walk in the ethereal mist forest and take on swimming and hikes.
Holidays to The Panorama Route should hardly be defined by the canyon's absorbent presence however; there are numerous attractions on the route which are worth your time. Step into a fascinating wonderland of underground majesty at Echo Caves or fish in the idyllic setting of Ohrigstad Dam Reserve, with the chance to catch carp and yellowtail.
The area also boasts a number of different mammal species; keep your eyes peeled for buskbuck, black-backed jackals and bushbabies along your way.
