Olakira Migration Camp is seasonal tented camp that moves across the Serengeti with the wildebeest and zebra of the Great Migration. This intimate set of 9 stargazing tents is the perfect gateway to this wildlife spectacle. Stay at Olakira in order to take-in two of the migration's highlights, the Mara River crossing and calving season.
From around the middle of December to March the camp is located in the Southern Serengeti on the shores of Lake Masek. From your vantage point in the Ndutu area watch as huge numbers of wildebeest give birth and breathe new life into the ecosystem. By June to the early half of December the camp is stationed in the Northern Serengeti and set at the confluence of the Bolongonja and Mara rivers - it's a great base for taking-in the famous river crossings.
When all of the action of the day is over your comfy tent is a welcome break from adventure. The Arabian lanterns add an old world aesthetic while the inviting king size beds, en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and canvas chaise lounge juxtapose nicely. The incredible stargazing tents are open to the milky skies above, with only a net as a barrier, offering a 270-degree panoramic view of the night skies. This amazing experience at Olakira is not one to be missed.
