Unchanged for the last 20 years, Chada Katavi still offers a reliably excellent wilderness experience. Secluded amongst the trees, the small camp blends seamlessly with its surroundings; allowing for casual game viewing, with elephant frequent visitors to camp. Chada is quite rustic with simple tented accommodation and is the perfect choice for anyone seeking an authentic safari.
There are only 6 traditional tents on offer, adding a great sense of intimacy to camp life. Tents boast open fronts and guests can sit out in-between activities and watch buffalo on the floodplain and various other game pass by, seemingly oblivious to the well hidden Chada. The tent interiors are safari chic and quite spacious, equipped with net windows and an en-suite bathroom. The bathrooms possess eco-loos and bucket showers for a touch of romance and authenticity. The tents are elevated on wooden platforms for a better view.
The main guest area consists of a small library area and a dining tent, where guests are treated to delicious daily meals. There is also a campfire area, ideal for sharing stories of the day's activities over an evening cocktail. With a prime location in the heart of the Katavi National Park, game viewing is exceptional and activities from camp revolve around game drives and walking safaris, with the chance to see lion, huge numbers of hippo and leopard.
