With the opportunity to visit Tanzania's famous Ngorongoro Crater but to also understand it as part of a wilder environment, Entamanu Ngorongoro is a unique safari experience. The camp is perched high on the wild side of the Ngorongoro Crater rim surrounded by the soaring peaks of dormant volcanic hills and the ebb and flow of Maasai pastoralist life. Its guests get to explore beyond the hustle and bustle of the main tourist trail at the Crater and instead encounter a truly wild highland environment. As well as this, it's the only place in Tanzania where you can watch the sun rise over the Ngorongoro Crater and set over the Serengeti.
Entamanu Ngorongoro, like other Nomad Tanzania camps, is designed to be removable and extraordinary care has been taken to ensure minimal disturbance to the environment. The seven gorgeous canvas rooms, two of which are family rooms, are raised on platforms that are easily dismantled and taken away. They all have views of the Crater from an extensive shaded wooden deck as well as indoor heating, flushing toilets and a plumbed-in shower with hot and cold water.
The camp interiors are decorated with sustainably sourced wood and everything else has been carefully handcrafted to the highest standard by talented Tanzanian artists. The wool throws, woven rugs and sheepskins further add to the feeling of comfort and warmth. The main communal tent has two spacious lounges and a dining area with rustic furniture pieces and ornaments.
On the north-western rim of the Ngorongoro Crater reached by regular scheduled flights from Arusha / Dar es Salaam / Zanzibar and other destinations. Flights fly into the Manyara Airstrip and it is then an approximately 2-hour drive to the camp. The camp is only 30 minutes' drive from the descent road into the Crater.
Ngorongoro Crater game drives, guided walks through the highlands, cultural interactions with Maasai communities and bush picnics.
