Found in the remote North of the Serengeti, Lamai Serengeti offers high quality accommodation, expert guiding and an insight into one of nature's most famous spectacles: the Great Wildebeest Migration. The camp is located only a few miles from the Mara River, where wildebeest make their annual crossing from Kenya to Tanzania and brave the crocodile filled waters. The camp is a great choice for exploring some of the best the Serengeti has to offer and is split between two separate lodges: the Main Lodge and the smaller Private Lodge.
Rooms feature all of the modern amenities the discerning traveller would expect, with flush toilets and hot/ cold running water in the en-suite bathrooms and 24 hour electricity. Boasting private verandas, each room affords wonderful views of the surrounds and blends seamlessly into the rocky Kopjes in which they are set. 8 of the camp's 12 rooms are found in the Main Lodge, while the remaining 4 are located in the Private Lodge. Both feature their own swimming pool, dining room and bar. For small groups or families, Private Lodge is ideal.
Aside from the camp's rustic luxury the obvious reason to visit Lamai is for the area's incredible game viewing and wildlife interaction. Game drives to witness the wildebeest migration are naturally a huge attraction, bringing with it a plethora of predators, patiently stalking their prey. However guests can also experience bush picnics and guided walks.

Set on a kopje overlooking the Serengeti, this camp is absolutely breathtaking and was the perfect ending to our honeymoon. We saw so much wildlife - I had wanted to go to that part of Africa to see the big cats and I wasn't disappointed! Our guide, John, was hilarious and made our game drives lots of fun. I was dying to see a cheetah as we hadn't seen one on our trip yet, and he did his best to find one for me. After three days of no cheetah sightings I had given up hope (but was glad to have an excuse to return) - on our way to the airstrip we left a little early to do one last mini game drive and ended up not only seeing two cheetahs, but saw them stalk and kill an impala! Amazing! The landscape was stunning - lush and green and SO much wildlife. The camp itself was incredible - Nic and Jana were fantastic hosts and were there to greet us before and after every game drive. They were both so friendly and really great company. The food at the camp was five star quality, and Jana even gave me a couple of recipes, including one for koeksisters, which I am dying to try out! I can't recommend this camp highly enough!Read full trip review
