Found on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, Lemala Ngorongoro is a seasonal tented camp, with a quiet location on the Crater's eastern rim. For those looking for a more private experience of the Crater and still wishing to be located on the rim itself this is the place to stay. Not only do guests enjoy the personal service of this intimate luxury camp but they can often gain access to the crater floor quicker and earlier than guests staying at larger lodges, allowing for a less crowded and higher quality game drive.
Guests will find 8 tents and 1 family tent, ideal for families or larger parties; being capable of accommodating up to 5 people. Guests can expect either king size or large single beds, 24 hour solar lighting and en-suite bathrooms. A canvas door separates the bedroom from the bathroom, which features a number of amenities (towels etc) and a flush toilet and shower. Hot water is supplied on request. Guests should allow around 15 minutes for the water to be heated before being ready for use.
The main reason to stay at Lemala Ngorongoro is the easy access to the Ngorongoro Crater. Thanks to its positioning on the rim's eastern side, guests can find themselves on the Crater floor in only 15 minutes. Both the area's scenery and game viewing are unequivocally spectacular.
Roughly a 2 and a half hour drive from Manyara Airstrip, or around a 4 hour drive from Arusha.
Ngorongoro Crater game drives with private lunch inside the crater, game walks and private breakfasts with the Masai can be arranged.

All of the things true of Lemala Ndutu & Mara Tented Camp can be said of Lemala Ngorngoro. In fact, we wish we would have stayed 2 nights here rather than moving to the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. We went on a beautiful and educational hike with a Maasai member of the staff. Another group had set it up and, upon my request, we were able to join. Once again, we…
Also so lovely - a different experience than Mpingo but we learned so much about the Maasai people from our kind, and genuinely Maasai, staff (Mollel, Denise and Allois). Taught us so much in such a short time. We still had delicious food and they made you feel so cozy in the tents at night.
