Sable Mountain Lodge is located in the north western corner of the Selous area just outside the park's boundary. It provides guests with wonderful views of the forest across to the distant Uluguru Mountains. With 5 tented rooms and 8 stone cottages, the property also boasts a two story villa, which is set apart from the main lodge atop a hill. The views from this villa are nothing short of beautiful.
All of the accommodation at Sable Mountain Lodge features en-suite bathrooms with a toilet and shower with warm water. Rooms also feature 24 hour electricity and mosquito nets over beds. Of the 5 tented rooms 2 of them are slightly larger and provide guests better views and outside showers. These open front tents are the lodges' honeymoon suites. The 8 stone cottages possess a slightly more rustic charm than the tented accommodation.
The area in which the lodge is situated is quite large and as such provides guests with a swimming pool and two restaurants and bars. A nearby watering hole can also act as a source of entertainment, with a hide built to quietly watch any wildlife that ventures down to drink. This is a nice camp for those seeking an authentic wilderness experience, with the hilly, forested terrain of the area adding a touch of adventure.
30 min drive from Matambwe Airstrip. Flights come into the airstrip from Dar es Salaam, Arusha and Zanzibar.

Review of Sable Mountain Lodge
Absolutely stunning location, wonderful room with exquisite views, great facilities, brilliant hosts (Joseph was a highlight!), and amazing guide who went out of his way to show us everything!
Hotel staff as good as at Saadani. Food and accommodation both great. Safaris excellent - staff offered to substitute a drive for the walking safari before we asked!
