Located on a beautiful Indian Ocean beach surrounded by the stunning bush of Saadani National Park, A Tent with a View offers a peaceful retreat from which to explore Tanzania's only coastal wildlife reserve. Saadani is in the unique position of providing the opportunity to observe Africa's big game and bird life interacting with the sea. Foot safaris combining the bush and the beach, birdwatching by canoe on the Mafue salt water creek and game drives are all available from the lodge, whilst a boat safari on the Wami River can be organised as part of a full day game drive.
Guests are provided with a choice of 10 different bandas as well as 3 family bandas, capable of sleeping a family of 5, and a honeymoon suite known by the lodge as Venus. The rooms each possess a terrace and are raised above the ground on wooden platforms, the honeymoon suite differs slightly, set amongst the mangroves for added romance. The property affords guests a restaurant that serves cuisine with a focus on seafood dishes and a bar well stocked with wine and spirits.
Besides enjoying the perfect blend of a beach and safari just outside your front door, the lodge also offers guests the chance to witness the hatching of baby turtles from July to September time. The lodge has a genuine eco-friendly attitude with an interest in conservation. As such the lodge team run the Saadani Wildlife Research Centre, which guests are welcome to visit to learn a little more about the wildlife in the area.
Roughly 4.5 hours by road from Dar es Salaam and 7 hours from Arusha. Charter flights are available making it a 20 min flight from Zanzibar and 30 min flight from Dar es Salaam.

Amazing - walking along the beach to the restaurant for meals was surreal. All staff unfailingly helpful - relaxed but efficient atmosphere and great food. Safaris really good.

Great location, though some might find it a bit 'rustic'! Quite a bit better than 'camping' though, isn't it! Location is breathtaking and amazingly quiet. Food was generally good but in dark surroundings (I suppose this is welcomed by the bush babies wandering around!) and on the buffet night, they ran out of food!
