The hotel is set in the quiet Oyster Bay area of the city; a well-placed escape from the bustle of Dar es Salaam's centre. As such the pervading ambience is very relaxed and guests can take in brilliant ocean views from their rooms. The property is surrounded by tropical gardens which house a number of indigenous trees and the hotel's 15m lap pool. Ideal for relaxation, catching a tan on the sun deck or for a quiet leisurely stroll the gardens are a well-received addition to a stay at Oyster Bay.

All of Oyster Bay's 8 rooms offer comfortable, air-conditioned accommodation. For those who would rather not make use of the air-conditioning, guests will find cross ventilation and louvred shutters in rooms. Very inviting and perfect for stop-overs, interiors hold African flair complemented by airy spaciousness and crisp whites. Beds are twin or king size and ocean facing. French doors open onto a balcony that furthers the view and en-suite bathrooms are quietly modern, with delightful walk-in-showers.

Review of The Oyster Bay

Emmet O'Brien

Luxury on a smaller and personal scale. The hotel was located in the nicest area of Dar es Salaam with sea views across the road. We enjoyed a beautiful meal hosted by the owner of the hotel and the one other guest, who happened to be the hotel architect. Certainly the Zen influences were apparent from the entrance to the rooms. A perfect place to relax before the flight home.
