Beautiful location and accommodations. Loved the "individual" pools. Food was good although not as good as on most of the trip. Customer service and communication was somewhat lacking at this location.

The Residence is located on a stretch of gorgeous beach and was like paradise! The staff are all so friendly and go out of their way to help you. The only downside is the high cost of the extras for example the soft drinks, additional meals, the spa and also the excursions. However, this didn't dampen our stay and we would definitely return.

Lovely accommodation, grounds and pool, food not up to standard of hotel, beach disappointing compared to other Zanzibar beaches - lots of seaweed, sea urchins and tide went out a mile.

Beautiful hotel with spacious villas. Having our own swimming pool at the villa was a real pleasure too. Most of the personal are local and that's great. But some of them have really poor english and that was complicated to communicate with them sometimes. We also had to wait 20minutes at the airport at our arrival because the hotel though we would arrive the day after. But we met some really nice guys who helped us contacting the hotel to send us someone.

Service was great - the front desk staff especially. Our room was beautiful and so is the property - tennis courts, spa, huge gym, etc.

Beautiful resort. Well run with good staff. Room was fantastic, as was the main swimming pool. One big negative from our perspective was the insistance on buffet meals... We were there 5 days/nights and out of the 15 meals, 13 were buffet style. The food served was not bad, but buffet food is never that great. In picking the Residence we knew we were heading to a larger resort and that buffets were a possibility, but there were just too many! We have experienced this issue in other hotels and can't help but feel that they detract from the atmosphere of a luxury hotel - lining up for mediocre food with a local band singing cover songs does not feel very special. We appreciate 100% that this is a very personal opinion and that we should tailor our travel accordingly in the future (we did try to book Baraza initially but it was fully booked). Still, the fact remains that this was a great property and we had a really relaxing time so no regrets

This place is just wonderful! We loved the decor, place, attention to details, food, and service. We had a fantastic time there and will probably go back or try another Residence somewhere else. Congratulations!!! Only one drawback: it is far from the airport and the flight to Nairobi that allows connections to other countries is at 5.30am. Which means waking up at 2am. But the hotel made the logistics smooth.

The Residence is probably the nicest resort I have ever visited. Our villa was beautiful, and we had a private infinity pool which was actually pretty large. The food was good and the setting was beautiful. The only drawback of this resort is the several mile access road which is extremely bumpy, but this is just a minor note.
