Olakira Migration Camp is a seasonal tented camp that moves across Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park with the wildebeest and zebra of the Great Migration. This intimate set of 9 stargazing tents is the perfect gateway to this wildlife spectacle. Your stay will take in either of the migration's highlights, the river crossings in the north between June and October and calving season on the southern plains from December until March. Spend your days on game drives and hot air balloon safaris and your nights sleeping in the mesh-covered stargazing tents.
Olakira Migration Camp’s tents are designed to blend into the bush without leaving a trace, although that doesn’t mean they scrimp on comforts. You will sleep in a king-size bed (or twin) and enjoy flushing toilets and hot-water bucket showers. The tents are perfect; a portion of the tent boasts a 270°-view from beneath a net, offering you the best of the outdoors while remaining indoors. At night, roll your bed into the meshed area to spend the night with the stars glittering above while dreaming about the day’s adventures. Breakfasts and lunches are enjoyed in the main dining tent, from which you can admire the sprawling plains of the Serengeti, and dinner is a 3-course affair usually served around the campfire under the stars.
