Uganda Safari Highlights

  • Gorilla and chimp tracking
  • Some of the richest birding in Africa
  • A chance to combine a 'primate' safari with a conventional savannah safari
  • Friendly Ugandan people
  • Dense misty forests, snow-peaked mountains, glassy lakes and sprawling savannahs
  • Safari adventure activities
  • 'Off the beaten track' safari honeymoon destination

Scenery in Uganda is jaw dropping from lush, green forests, to snow-capped mountains, crater lakes and savannah grasslands but the real draw card is the wildlife - the star of the show being the primates.

Whilst the term 'adventure of a lifetime' is often a cliché, it is certainly true when tracking endangered mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Meeting these gentle creatures eye to eye is an emotional experience, one never forgotten.

For pure fun and unforgettable entertainment, trek the chimpanzees in Kibale Forest with our expert guides who will bring to life the complexities of their social structure. Get those cameras ready to capture the chimps' humorous hand gestures and facial expressions, their deafening screeches and their death-defying leaps through the trees.

Uganda is often unfairly overlooked as a safari destination. Tree-climbing lions, massive pods of hippos, elephant herds and some of the richest birding in Africa are all within an easy distance of the primates. Uganda is one of the few places to see the threatened, pre-historic shoebill stork and its 10 foot wing span!

Whether you are climbing the Mountains of the Moon, white water rafting on the River Nile or tracking gorillas, Uganda is an adventure holiday or honeymoon that also supplies plenty of depth and meaning.

But what makes us so passionate about safari holidays to Uganda is the Ugandan people. Utterly charming and genuinely warm, you will leave Uganda with a heavy heart and a plan for your next trip!

Uganda is worthy of anyone's bucket list. Tick it off and experience something new by contacting one of our Uganda safari specialists today.

Holiday to Uganda

Robert & Katharine McClenathan

While this score is a bit low, please understand that I am comparing it to our many other African experiences through Mahlatini. The low score, I believe, stems from Uganda's relatively unsophisticated or underdeveloped system of ecotourism. Paraa Lodge is woefully outdated and more "motel-like" than the lodges to which we are accustomed. However, I recognize it has an advantageous location on the "proper" side of the Nile to avoid…

Uganda was a more third world compared to TZ or Botswana or Kenya but the primate viewing was awesome and that is what I wanted. My driver guide Robert was professional and very helpful and caring. Premier Safaris met my expectations for this country.

Seeing the gorillas interact with each other in their natural habitat was amazing - especially since we saw two males, a female and three babies.

There is just one word for my trip made with Mahlatini, PERFECT. The lodges, the service, the places, the timing. The best travel agency I ever work with. All the staff is very helpful and very kind. My best recommendations for Mahlatini. All my future trips will be made by Mahlatini.

Holiday to Tanzania & Uganda

The lodges and tented camps that we stayed at were all fantastic! Uganda: Our driver Kenan was wonderful! We absolutely loved Boma Guest House and the staff everywhere. Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking was incredible! Tanzania - Mainland: The Serena Lodges were beautiful, the meals were great. Again, another lucky score with our driver Tumaini from Predators--and though we booked a group tour for safari - no one else…

Family Holiday to Uganda

Derek Allen

Matt picked us up at our guesthouse in Kampala and left us back there 2 days later. In between he took us to Murchison Falls National Park and we stayed at Paraa Lodge. Whaooo!! Game drives on your doorstep, lots of animals right up close, the Falls only a river cruise away. More than surpassed our expectations as a family with 3 teenagers. Well done Mahlatini!

Holiday to Uganda

Tina Freestone

This holiday was one of the best I have had with some amazing experiences. I have picked out a few highlights that will always stay with me - 1. coming face to face with gorillas after a hard 5 hour trek - and being knocked over by a particularly playful one 2. giving a piggy back ride to a 40lb chimp whilst a smaller chimp walked alongside holding my hand 3.…
