Lake Kitandara Bwindi Camp

Situated on the boarder of Bwindi National Park, Lake Kitandara Camp is an ideal base to set off on a gorilla tracking adventure. Adjacent to the Impenetrable Forest, the camp provides guests fabulous views of the surrounding area. Bwindi National Park plays residence to nearly half the world's population of the mighty mountain gorilla, so you're guaranteed to catch a sighting of these rare and gentle creatures.

Guests can expect tented accommodation, with 20 simple tents on offer, allowing for a true back to nature experience. However, home comforts are provided with a bath tub, hot and cold showers, a toilet in the bathroom and low to the ground beds. There's also a veranda from which guests can sit out and enjoy the view. The camp runs on solar power 24 hours a day and provides guests with 3 square meals and unlimited drinks (this rule applies to house wines on the last day of guests' trips).

A restaurant and bar are on offer to guests with staff at the lodge very friendly and willing to help. The restaurant serves local and international cuisine, the bar some tasty wines and the main reception provides a charging point for electronic equipment.

Getting There

Full day's drive from Entebbe or Kampala, 2-3 hour's drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha sector), 1 hour, 40 min flight by light aircraft followed by an approximately 30km drive to the park entrance.

Excellent service. Very courteous people. First day there was no hot water, but they fixed the issue next day.

Fantastic! We adored the staff (Short Moses and Tall Moses!) and it was such a great location. Tents were spacious and clean, bathrooms were nicer than I'd expect in the forest. Meals were great. Definitely would come back to this camp!
