Amankora Bumthang

Bumthang, which translates to "beautiful field," is home to many temples and monasteries, including ancient Jambay Lhakhang. The 16-suite Amankora Bumthang Lodge is situated next to Wandichholing Palace in the town of Jakar. Amankora Bumthang is a superb base from which to enjoy numerous cultural and spiritual experiences, such as the unforgettable 108-butter lamp offering at Jambay Lhakhang.

The suites at Amankora Paro are uniformly spacious and boast a sleek, minimalist design inspired by Japanese aesthetics. Each suite includes a king-size bed, a traditional wood-burning stove, and banquette window-seats. The bathrooms are equipped with bathtubs, twin vanities, and separate shower and toilet facilities. The cedar-scented spa infuses treatments with local Bumthang honey and wild herbs. Facial masks made from fresh oranges and local yoghurt provide the perfect antidote to the skin drying effects of high-altitude fresh air. Dining, whether indoor or outdoor, comes with views of the adjacent Wandichholing Palace. Expect delicious soups and stews made from local produce, as well as less obvious options such as Yak carpaccio. The bar is combined with the main restaurant area and is the ideal spot for a post-dinner hot toddy and game of cards.
