Tau Pan Camp
Tau Pan Camp is the first semi-permanent camp to be situated inside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, right on the edge of the beautiful Tau Pan, commanding stunning views of the permanent Tau Pan water hole and the endless Kalahari horizon. December to April is when this region comes into its own with a plethora of plains game and predators, including the Kalahari black-maned lion, and there are usually very few others to share the scene with.
Tau Pan has 9 airy and spacious custom-built desert chalets, with impressive views through the full-length gauze screens. The crescent-shaped main area has expansive views and encompasses the communal dining and bar areas, leading in turn to the fire pit, viewing deck, and plunge pool.
Honeymoon offer: Save 50% on one partner's accommodation. This offer is valid throughout 2026. Terms and conditions apply.

Tau Pan did not have such a variety of animals close by ... or activities. We saw many more species when we went on a day trip to Deception Valley but it was a hard day's driving. I liked this camp least - the staff seemed less happy too. However, I did find the dessert quite an amazing.

This was better than we expected. Sightings of bat eared fox and cape fox, cheetah and leopard. The San tracker was particularly good. We much enjoyed his talk and demonstration on the way of life of the San.
