Situated at over 3,600 meters in the heart of Ladakh’s Trans-Himalayas, Lungmar Snow Leopard Camp provides an adventure that’s deeply intertwined with nature and local culture. Surrounded by majestic peaks and scenic valleys, the camp takes its name, "LUNGMĀR"—meaning “Red Valley”—from the striking hues of this breathtaking Ladakhi landscape. Renowned for its prime wildlife habitat, Lungmar serves as the perfect base for spotting the elusive snow leopard. Supported by an elite team of specialists, the camp sets a new benchmark for snow leopard conservation and tourism, offering a comfortable and welcoming stay amidst the rugged terrain.
Lungmar masterfully blends modern comforts with the rich traditions of the ancient Silk Road. The camp features 10 tents and suites, each styled with hand-knotted rugs and Tibetan-inspired furnishings. The centrally heated Predator Suites are located within the main lodge and come with en-suite bathrooms. For a luxurious glamping experience, the Kurkhang Tents—set away from the main building—remain snugly warm even when temperatures dip to –20°C. The tents have access to a nearby Hammam block that includes a wood-lined sauna and shared bathrooms. Meals are served in the Sumdo Sarai, which doubles as a lounge, bar, and communal hub of the camp. Under the guidance of a renowned chef, the restaurant offers a delightful fusion of Silk Road cuisines, featuring Indian and Ladakhi specialties. Evenings are spent exchanging stories of the day’s sightings and exploring old maps and books.
