A backwater cruise is a perfect way to immerse yourself in the traditions and beauty of Kerala. Spice Routes is a group of 6 uber-luxurious houseboats exploring the Kerala backwaters. Each of the 6 boats are air-conditioned with 1-bedroom to 5-bedroom options, ideal for solo travelers, couples and groups. The boats are only assigned to a single booking as the evocative backwaters are best experienced in your own time and space.

Whilst the houseboats are designed using traditional thatched roofs, the interiors are ultra-modern with ensuite bathrooms and equipped with luxury products. The boats also feature sun decks, living rooms, dining rooms, and a well-stocked kitchen and skilled crew who ensure you have a luxurious experience. Dining on board is often the most memorable aspect of the trip with a private chef preparing continental staples as well as Kerala specials. Fresh river fish, lobsters and mussels are bought from the fishermen along the canals. You can take it straight from their canoes or hear their call from their bicycles. The well-planned routes offer a kaleidoscope of activity along the rural backwaters from canoe rides, village walks cycling and fishing to birding, toddy tapping and chutney making. There will also be the chance to discover ancient port towns, temples, beaches and fishing villages around Alleppey.
