Shergarh

Founded in 2004 by husband and wife duo Katie and Jehan, Shergarh was designed as an intimate and relaxed camp for wildlife enthusiasts to appreciate the natural beauty of Kanha. Two decades later, this essence remains—Shergarh is a friendly, well-managed camp featuring eight comfortable tents, located in a truly stunning location.

The tents at Shergarh are spacious, crafted from breathable canvas with large netted windows that allow for a seamless connection to the surrounding nature while ensuring comfort and security. Each tent is equipped with a heater, air conditioning, a writing desk, easy chairs, a large bed, and an en-suite bathroom, with toiletries made from 100% natural products. A generous private veranda with cane chairs and loungers serves as the perfect spot to read, relax, or admire the night sky. Local chefs Antram and Dilip create light salad lunches using fresh ingredients from the garden or local markets. Dinners are prepared in the style of a traditional Indian home, featuring delicately flavored dishes. While meals are usually communal, individual tables can also be arranged. At the camp’s center, a spring-fed waterbody attracts a variety of birds, including cormorants, kingfishers, herons, teal, waterhens, and hundreds of breeding egrets. A lovely deck cantilevered over the water provides an ideal setting for breakfast, sunset views, reading, relaxation, and yoga, with the option for a refreshing swim. Children can also enjoy a homemade raft. Explore the area through jeep safaris, forest walks, cycling, and community visits.
