Your wildlife adventure through central India begins at Kanha National Park with a stay at the superb Kanha Earth Lodge. An abundance of wildlife calls Kanha home, a highlight being the Barasingha, or swamp deer, a species that is critically endangered. Tiger sightings have been excellent over the past few years. Pench National Park is next, once the inspiration for Kipling’s The Jungle Book. Stay at the Jamtara Wilderness Camp, an excellent and true wildlife camp, with strong roots in Indian wildlife conservation. Pench is again a prolific park, with frequent tiger and leopard sightings, but as with Kanha, it is also rich in other wildlife.
Next, explore wilderness like never before. The naturalists from Rani Pani Resort will take you walking, canoeing, and cycling alongside jeep and motorboat excursions to see the wildlife of Satpura National Park. Follow this with a stay at Bori Safari Lodge, close to the Bori Wildlife Sanctuary, which is one of the most exciting emerging tiger landscapes in Madhya Pradesh. This destination is less explored, far from the usual tourist hotspots, and is a haven for nature lovers. Your final stop is affectionately called the Land of the Tigers, due to its high tiger density. Tadoba Tiger Reserve offers plenty of opportunities for close encounters with tigers, leopards, sloth bears, gaur (Indian bison), rusty-spotted cats, ratels, Indian mouse deer, wild pigs, four-horned antelopes, flying squirrels, and over 200 species of birds. Increase the pace by ending in the energetic city of Mumbai.
