Brunton Boatyard in Fort Kochi is your first port of call and provides the perfect base for exploring this fascinating melting pot. Fort Kochi played a vital role in the spice trade and is home to a colorful blend of Dutch, British and Portuguese architecture, as well as the Chinese fishing nets. Explore this compact, historic area on foot with your guide. From Cochin head into the tea hills, where you will stay at the fabulous Windermere Estate, in Munnar. Superbly comfortable, Windermere is the ideal staging post for trips out to learn all things tea. The views here are magnificent – best enjoyed at sunset with a cold drink. Move south to Thekaddy, located very near to the Periyar National Park. A big spice producing region, you will visit a spice plantation to learn about nutmeg, pepper and cardamom production. You will also search for wildlife on a guided walking safari inside the national park. Next, the iconic backwaters. Things will slow right down here as you enjoy the comforts and facilities of Coconut Lagoon, on the edge of Lake Vembanad. Venture out on a rice barge cruise through the waterways to observe village life and enjoy the lovely scenery. Your journey ends where it began, back in Fort Kochi.
