You will visit Sigiriya Lion Rock as well as the Dambulla Cave Temple. A certain highlight will be backroad cycling through the ancient city of Anuradhapura with a guide. This sacred city is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a must for culture vultures. There will also be the chance to stop at the Buddhist hill city of Kandy to see the Temple of the Tooth which houses a relic of the tooth of Buddha. Then for a change of pace, the picturesque Tea Country, and a stay at Ceylon Tea Trails, luxurious, colonial tea-planter bungalows. The area is known for its fertile tea plantations, spectacular views, and wonderful hiking trails. A smooth transition then to an island in the Maldives. Arrive by boat to Gili Lankanfushi Resort offering all overwater suites. It’s a natural ‘no news no shoes’ private castaway island, perfect to relax in after the busy sightseeing in Sri Lanka.
