Mandrare River Camp
Located in the remote south of Madagascar, Mandrare River Camp's off-the-beaten-path location offers exclusive access to one of the world's most unique ecosystems. Here, the Mandrare River is the lifeblood of the region, sustaining life for countless endemic plants, lemurs, and chameleons - it is perfectly possible that you won't even have to leave the comfort of your tent to spot one of these amazing creatures.
At the lodge, there are seven elegant en-suite tents located under the shade of tamarind trees, all equipped with four poster double beds and dressing tables. Look out for the unique hand-carved wooden furnishings depicting some of the local animals. Days can be spent exploring the area's diverse wildlife, either by 4x4 or on foot, or visiting the local markets and villages. Evenings are spent on the river banks, watching the sunset surrounded by the soft glow of hurricane lanterns. Enjoy a drink around the campfire before sharing dinner with the camp host and other guests by the river or if you are seeking some privacy, have dinner brought to your terrace for a more intimate dining experience. The lodge serves the freshest and finest Malagasy produce, blended in a French style by excellent chefs.
A stay at Mandrare is usually combined with a stay at Manafiafy Beach and Rainforest Lodge. Between the two, you can experience seven different ecosystems that include the arid and otherworldly spiny forest of Androy and the beautiful rainforests of the east coast of southern Madagascar.

Holiday to Mandrare River Camp
This delivered the Madagascar experience we were looking for. We enjoyed day and night wilderness excursions to see lemurs, baobabs, and the local culture. We wish we could have been there on a Thursday to see the local market! Great hospitality with excellent meals.

From Conrad and Monique to the chef, everyone, including the tour guides (Lori, Nant, and Rivu), was amazing and trea…
