Caroline Groeneveldt

Born into a Mauritian family, Caroline spent her formative years living in Botswana and across various South African provinces (Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Eastern Cape). It's not surprising that her fascination with Africa and an ingrained love of travelling inspired her career choice. After studying marketing at college, Caroline's first role in the tourism industry was as a travel consultant for a safari tour operator in Cape Town. She has also worked within the hospitality and events industry which has nurtured her highly client-centric approach.

Helping people to realize their travel dreams is her main driver - Caroline derives so much joy from planning once-in-a-lifetime journeys to some of her favorite places on earth. She brings a huge amount of knowledge, experience and passion to the Mahlatini team and relishes being an integral part of the award-winning team within the growing Cape Town office.

Most Memorable Trip

My first adventure to Kenya... it felt like taking a deep, therapeutic breath. Exploring the diversity of several parks in Northern Kenya and visiting a number of our partnered camps in the Maasai Mara was a dream come true.  

Top Of My Bucket-List

It's almost becoming a cliché, but I would love to stay at the iconic Giraffe Manor in Nairobi. What's not to love about sharing breakfast with the beautiful Rothschild giraffes? The allure of The Seychelles and her untouched, pristine beaches is also very strong.

"Giraffe. The tallest land animal with its long legs and neck that is always so graceful and gentle."

"For me nothing beats a refreshing gin & tonic at sunset. It's a classic for a reason, even better when garnished with African botanicals."

Top Travel Tip

I would encourage everyone to be more conscious about thoughtful travel. Do things like reusing hotel towels, turning the power off when leaving your room, and packing less for fuel efficiency on flights. The small things can really add up.
