Gary studied Law and Politics at university before embarking on a career in finance. He has over fifteen years' experience, gained in both private accountancy practices and in-house roles, spanning diverse sectors including publishing and travel.

Most Memorable Trip

Visiting South Africa for the first time with my wife and daughter. Being able to share my first African safari with them was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and something very special. It was fascinating to see the differences as I traveled through the numerous iconic destinations of South Africa - from the local food and flavors to the undulating landscapes and breathtaking scenery.

Top Of My Bucket-List

A trip to Kenya, the birthplace of safari. I look forward to exploring Kenya's expansive regions, from the untouched wildlands in the North, to the endless savannahs of the Maasai Mara. I would love to have authentic cultural experiences and meet the indigenous Maasai warriors.

Favourite Safari Animal

"Rhino...it stems from mistaking a rhino for a dinosaur when I was in primary school. I have loved them ever since and to see them in their natural habitat would be such a thrill."

"Has to be Babylonstoren in the Cape Winelands. I was lucky enough to stay there with my family and from the property itself to the setting, everything was breathtaking!"

Top Travel Tip

Make sure you dress right for long-haul flights, keep it loose and comfortable and bring layers for when it gets cold. I have never regretted wearing my most comfortable sweatpants while on the plane!

The Best Part Of My Job

I love being actively involved in the evolution of Mahlatini and the growth of the team. Supporting the opening of the Cape Town office is a particular highlight to date...it's great to be part of a team that is growing across both hemispheres.
