Finance has always been a big part of Nokulunga's life since her teenage years spent earning pocket money while working in her father's business. Nokulunga attributes her success in finance to her accounting teacher, who encouraged her to transform her love of numbers into a career. Nokulunga joined Mahlatini with 6 years of accounting experience. One thing Nokulunga loves about finance is that the rules always stay the same, however the travel industry keeps her on her toes as she works with a variety of currencies from around the globe.

MOST MEMORABLE TRIP

When my older sister moved to Plettenberg Bay along the Garden Route, I knew I had to plan a trip to visit her as soon as I got the chance. During my stay, I witnessed dolphins and whales frolicking in the waves, just a few meters from the shoreline. I was so humbled to realize how small we human beings are in comparison to these gentle giants.

Top Of My Bucket-List

My wish-list destination is Botswana, the origin country of my ancestors. Every time someone travels to Botswana, they are lost for words when trying to recount their experience. The beauty and magic of the country leave even the most experienced explorer speechless.

Favourite Safari Animal

"My favorite safari animal is undoubtedly the African wild dog. Their pack mentality reminds me of family, and if you stick together then no threat is too big. My favorite saying is "umntu ngumntu ngabantu", meaning a person is a person through other people. Dogs need their pack, like people need other people."

Sundowner Of Choice

"I don't usually drink alcohol, but if I were to choose a favorite drink, it would have to be Monks Mary Jane Gin with tonic. When Escape + Explore came to visit our Cape Town office they brought a few samples along for us to try - and now I'm hooked."

"My favorite lodge is &Beyond's Sandibe Okavango safari lodge in Botswana. I am a nature girl at heart, and there are two reasons why I would love to stay there; firstly to enjoy the exceptional game viewing, and secondly to indulge in the opulent culinary delights."

Top Travel Tip

Bring a book, there will be moments along the way when you will want to unwind, disconnect and get lost in a great novel (for example: on the flight or in the middle of the bush). I always pack light with essentials only! This always helps me to feel relaxed about a trip. Lightweight, light mood. Bring extra cash, you never know when you might need it! And lastly, wear comfortable walking shoes such as trainers.

The Best Part Of My Job

I mean who does not want to be a part of the finance team at Mahlatini!? I love working alongside Gary, our Finance Manager. We have a great working relationship and he makes accounting fun, we often find ourselves in fits of laughter! Another joy of mine is watching our Travel Experts put together an itinerary. Their knowledge and experience is so expansive and they know how to get inside the minds of future travelers to understand their needs and interests.
