Sarah Fox

Sarah was raised in Durban, South Africa, by ex-pat parents. It was no surprise, that after graduating from the University of Natal, she left her native shores to live and work overseas. Her travels brought her to the UK, where she joined Mahlatini in its start-up phase many years ago. Her initial role was in travel planning, and she enjoyed numerous educational trips back to her native land, traversing nearly every Mahlatini destination across Southern and Eastern Africa, including the Indian Ocean islands.

Sarah's extensive first-hand knowledge and in-depth understanding of the Mahlatini product portfolio proved to be the ideal foundation when she transitioned to her current role. Sarah is responsible for ensuring all product detail is current, seeking out emerging properties and destinations for our discerning clients.

Most Memorable Trip

Gorilla tracking in Uganda - seeing these endangered primates at such close proximity was breathtaking. There's a natural affinity, an almost human-like interaction with these fascinating creatures, which makes the wildlife experience just a little more special than a standard Big 5 safari.

Top Of My Bucket-List

Now that I am a mother of safari-mad children, I would love to take the family to the northern reaches of Kenya, which I have yet to visit myself. The Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba reserves are an expansive wilderness away from the crowds. We will love the walking safaris led by Samburu guides, and the kids will want to tick off seeing the Northern 5 – the gerenuk, the Somali ostrich, the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and the beisa oryx.

"The Oyster Box in Durban. I have wonderful childhood memories of visiting this exquisite hotel with my grandparents for special family occasions. It's so special and nostalgic when I revisit now with my own family and relive those memories through my kids."

Top Travel Tip

With many safari camps and lodges offering laundry services, you can pack a lot less than you think. Our Travel Expert's packing guide is a great starting point, but I would recommend also writing out a checklist and adding all your personal items.

The Best Part Of My Job

My job is wonderfully creative. I particularly enjoy the writing process that goes with it. Having visited so many of the destinations and properties I write about, it is easy to spend my days reliving the fun and recreating the experiences for our future clients.
