Tamsyn’s journey into luxury travel began when she was given the opportunity to specialize in travel planning to East Africa—an offer she embraced with open arms. From gorilla trekking in Uganda to exploring the vast plains of the Maasai Mara, she quickly developed a deep, personal connection to the destinations she now shares with clients.

Most Memorable Trip

I’ve been privileged to visit three of my bucket list destinations: Kenya’s Maasai Mara, Uganda, and Rwanda. Each experience exceeded my expectations, but encountering mountain gorillas in both Uganda and Rwanda was especially profound. I often think back to the anticipation of entering the forests and the quiet moments spent with the gorilla families. Nothing prepares you for their size or their deeply human personalities. When a gorilla locks eyes with you, there’s a silent understanding, a connection that’s impossible to forget. On my final trek in Rwanda, I left the forest in tears, humbled by the experience. I had just witnessed a magnificent creature in its natural habitat, made possible because one woman, Dian Fossey, chose to fight for their survival. Her work has brought global attention, pride, and purpose to the region and changed countless lives, both human and gorilla alike.

Top of My Bucket List

Bhutan—who wouldn’t want to visit a country that measures its success in Gross National Happiness? I’d love to immerse myself in its vibrant culture and rich heritage, ideally exploring as much as possible on foot. Discovering Bhutan’s unique culinary offerings would be a highlight too.

Favorite Safari Animal

The honey badger. They’re tenacious, clever, and brave. I think we all need to be a honey badger sometimes!

Sundowner of Choice

I’d have to go with an Amarula on ice. It’s basically a grown-up milkshake with a creamy kick. Who doesn’t love a milkshake?

Favorite Property

Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge in Uganda. It gives you front-row seats to an incredible ecosystem and everything that lives in it!

Pack layers, quick-dry fabrics, and a high-SPF sunscreen. Comfort is key when adventure calls!
