The chance to sleep out in the Sahara Desert, Dar Ahlam Dune Camp is an elegant desert camp set in the pristine dunes of Iriki. On the 4-wheel drive to the camp pass craggy outcrops, deep valleys, mirages of glittering water and small caravans of nomads resting under thorn trees with their camels. ,It’s a desolately beautiful expanse with just 5 tents featuring Berber rugs, wrought-iron lanterns and double beds piled with cushions.
Each tent is perfectly private and spacious with its own living room, exterior terrace and private toilet. Traditional dishes of Harira, a spicy lentil soup, and Berber tagine are served by candlelight under the stars, accompanied by soft musical entertainment, followed by traditional storytelling round an open fire. Days unfold at your own pace – traverse the golden Erg Chigaga on camelback, share tea with nomads, or trace ancient caravan routes to the edge of Iriki Salt Lake.
