Kashana Lodge
Kashana Lodge is situated on the banks of the seasonal Omaruru River making it an ideal stopover to explore the Erongo mountain region as well as to sample the artwork of Omaruru's famous local artisans and craftsmen. The town of Omaruru offers attractive souvenir shops and restaurants allowing you opportunities to mingle with the locals to obtain a very personal impression of Namibia and its people.
The original building at Kashana was built in 1907 during Namibia's colonial rule under Germany. The main building then served as a casino for the mine workers in the area. Over time the premises was used for different purposes and became more dilapidated until 2007, when its new owners restored the building to its former architectural glory to open Kashana Lodge.
Today that main building houses the restaurant, offering delightful Namibian cuisine, and an inviting bar. Guests ae accommodated in luxurious thatched bungalows where each room either offers a king size bed or two double beds. There are also family rooms, each with two double beds and two single beds. All the bungalows have air conditioning, a mini fridge, a safe as well as television and wifi.
For a spot of relaxation there is a swimming pool with 'lounging area' as well as wellness treatments available. The Nawa Nawa Arts Centre has its home at Kashana Lodge - a gallery and several shops, offering locally made arts and crafts.
