Solo Trip to Uganda & Tanzania
Anke Korthauer, 21st December 2019It was a great Trip, one of the best I ever made. Uganda is very impressive, the People all over very nice and helpful. I have seen all Animals I wanted to see, 2 Gorilla Trips (very short Tracking, what was much appreciated), Tree Lions and Chimpanzees.
Countries Visited
Kenya
“I was at Kenya Airport 3 Times and all over it is a Mess. For me too much Hassle just for being in Transit. Every time Fingerprints Scanning and Face Scanning, coming back from Zanzibar it was running through the Airport from Gate 23 to 6 and back just to get the Boarding Pass.
No clear Departure Information displayed, not enough Seating Areas.
My Suitcase wasn't in time twice as well.
First it didn't arrive with me from Nairobi to Zanzibar and the second Time it wasn't transferred from Nairobi to Amsterdam on my Way Home.
Due all the Security Checks, minimum 3 to get in or out you were queueing for Hours.”
Uganda
“A very nice and secure Country. You easily can travel as a Woman alone. It is save enough.
It was Green, Green, Green.
Very nice Scenery and very, very good Food. The Portions were to big...:-))”
Tanzania
“Very hot and arriving without my Suitcase didn't help.
I waited 1,5 Days for my Cloths, even with a Survival Package it was a Challenge.
The Hotel was great and all the Staff did their best to make the Holidays perfect.
5 Night were enough time to discover the Island.”
Accommodation Visited
“Good Service, but the Reception Recommendation to be at the Airport 2 Hours before the Flight was bad.
Alone for the Security Queues you need at least 3 Hours plus Walking time.
Hotel itself was okay.”
“Very, very nice Hotel and I could stay longer.
Nice Staff.
Here I had my first Nile Impressions and I only can say: What a wonderful River.”
Paraa Safari Lodge
“Staff was nice and the Room as well.
Due the Christmas Season the Hotel was fully out booked and very, very loud.
I would have preferred a smaller Place with less Tourist Groups.”
“One of the best Locations due the whole Trip.
Quiet, huge Room with beautiful View and very nice Staff and personal Manager Service.
Not to mention the great Food.”
Mweya Safari Lodge
“Very nice Room and everybody from the Service very helpful and caring.
Even due the Christmas Period it was not as crowded as the Paraa Safari Lodge”
Ishasha Wilderness Camp
“Perfect Location in a perfect Surrounding.
Food was excellent and I met the Manager Jack, who was running a Camp in Madagascar I visited 2 Years ago.
It was a big Hallo.”
Buhoma Lodge
“My favourite Place.
I loved the Gorillas, the Ride 4 a Woman Project and Bwindi.
Everybody was very nice and the Chef of the Kitchen made every Meal a real great Experience.”
Mihingo Lodge
“Beautiful Place and very nice Management.
Unfortunately it was raining, so we skipped some Activities.
The Leopard Room had an amazing View.”
Breezes Beach Club & Spa
“Hotel and Hotel Staff were very nice and Imma, one of the Managers was very helpful to get my lost Suitcase just in time.
The Location was great, even when it was 1 Hour Driving to the Capital.
The Stone Town Tour incl. Spice Market was a nice Experience.
Sailing in the Afternoon and a Reef Walk made it very special as well.”
